what do you think about the serial killer fandom

serial killers are interesting in terms of understanding their upbringing and how they tick, what drives a person to commit such awful acts, the detective work that goes into catching them. I’ve read a few books about this kind of stuff, if anyone is interested I highly recommend “The People Who Eat Darkness” or “Lost Girls, An Unsolved American Mystery”, both are good because it doesn’t purely focus on the murderers themselves but also the aspect of the remaining family and how it effects them. That being said the whole idea of being a “fan” of someone who did such awful shit is fucking cooked to me, like these people ended peoples lives, and ruined countless others connected to the victims and you’re just going to stan for them like they’re fucking lady gaga or something? I don’t get it.
